The durable device weighs less than 3 pounds. It is MIL-STD-810F compliant for shock, vibration, rain, sand and dust and IP54 compliant for dust and water resistance.

The Itronix GD3015 is powered by Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, integrated graphics. It is equipped with a 1.8-inch 160GB hard drive or optional 64GB SSD, and a 8GB CompactFlash card. The tablet comes with a 10.4-inch sunlight viewable, resistive touchscreen display with 1024×768 resolution. It supports Bluetooth, WiFi and optional GPRS/HSPDA mobile connectivity. Now, at the Computex 2011, Asus has added 3D capability to the device and calls it Eee Pad MeMO 3D that has a 7-inch glasses-free 3D IPS LCD touchscreen display. The screen offers 1024×600 resolution and supports multitouch.

The Eee Pad MeMO runs latest version of Android OS. Like the HTC Flyer, the MeMO will come with a capacitive stylus.

Archos launches its Arnova 7 Android tablet that costs just $99. The 7-inch device runs Android 2.2 Froyo OS. With such price point, don’t expect capacitive touchscreen. The Arnova 7 has a 7-inch 800×4800 resistive touchscreen and supports WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. It can handle H.264, MPEG-4, RealVideo video playback up to 720p resolution at 30fps.

The Arnova 7 has built-in speaker, microphone, USB connector, USB HOST connector and a microSDHC card. It measures 193.3mm x 120mm x 12.6mm and weighs 340g.

MSI announced at the Computex 2011 two new tablet devices, the WindPad 110W running Windows 7 and the WindPad 100A Android tablet. These WindPad devices are designed in collaboration with fashion designer Jeremy Scott.

The 100W is powered by AMD’s Brazos Fusion dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and Radeon HD6250 graphics. It packs up to 64GB SSD for storage. It weighs 850g. The WindPad 100A, on the other hand, sports dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of memory and 32GB SSD. Both devices are equipped with G-sensor, Ambient light sensor, SD card slot, USB connector and HDMI port.

The 110W and 100A come with a 10-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen display and support WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity. Also included is the SRS PC Sound audio enhancement technology.

Toshiba is going to release its Thrive Android tablet in the US market in July. The Thrive is basically the US version of the company’s Regza Tablet announced for Japan two month before. It is powered by Tefra 2 dual core processor that can handle Full HD 1080p video playback and runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet-friendly OS.

Toshiba’s Thrive features a 10.1-inch 1280×800 capacitive touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel main camera, a 2 Megapixel front camera for video chat and HDMI output. It supports Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and provides USB connector and SD card slot. It comes with 8GB, 16GB or 32GB storage. Running Android Honeycomb, the Thrive comes with the Swype keyboard pre-installed for easy typing.

The Toshiba Thrive will be released in July in US for $429 for 8GBG, $479 for 16GB and $579 for 32GB.

Gigabyte brings to the Computex 2011 its S1080 slate-style tablet PC. The 10.1-inch device is powered by an Intel Atom N550 1.66GHz dual core processor and runs Windows 7. It sports 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics.

The S1080 has a 10.1-inch capacitive multitouch display with 1024×600 resolution and LED-backlit. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 as well as 3.5G WWAN network connectivity. The tablet also comes with a 1.3 Megapixel webcam, 1.5Wx2 stereo speakers, and USB 3.0 connector.

Ricoh used a novel method which involves stacking three layers of electrochromic panels, one on top of the other, each reflecting different colors (yellow, cyan, magenta). This can create color pixels without sub pixels. All three layers are driven by one LTPS TFT. The display on show was 3.5" in size (113ppi) with a 27% color gamut (NTSC). read more

The 13.3" panel offers 1200x1600 (150ppi) resolution, 10:1 contrast ratio, 16 shades of gray and can be bent to a curvature radius of at least 5mm. Indeed had a cool demo showing how the panel bends. This panel is monochrome (they also had a color 13.3" flexible e-paper prototype on show).
