Note: According to Hewlett-Packard (HP), Digitimes misreported comments made by Monty Wong, vice president and manager of personal computing systems group at HP Taiwan. HP indicated that Wong said it is possible and should not be a technical issue to integrate mini-projector technology into a notebook, but he did not say HP is currently working on such a product for launch in 2010.

IC distributor GMI expects profit growth in January 2010

GMI Technology, which distributes Realtek Semiconductor networking chips and Toshiba NAND flash, estimates its January 2010 profits will grow sequentially thanks to higher NAND flash ASPs. The IC distributor generated net profits of NT$13.1 million (US$0.41 million) or NT$0.18 per share in December 2009.

Chipbond capex to more than double in 2010

Chipbond Technology has set a capex goal of NT$1.5 billion (US$47 million) for 2010 compared to NT$700 million allocated for the previous year, according to company chairman Fei-Jain Wu. Wu said Chipbond's revenues and profits will grow substantially in 2010, as it integrates International Semiconductor Technology (IST) into a new entity.
