Delta Electronics' 13.1-inch color e-readers due out mid-year | "DG News Service - Taiwan's Delta Electronics plans to start marketing a new 13.1-inch color touchscreen e-reader and an 8.1-inch monochrome touchscreen device around the end of the second quarter, which use e-paper technology from Japan's Bridgestone.

The new color e-reader should show up alongside a number of new devices using color e-paper screens, as the e-reader market transitions away from monochrome. Barnes & Noble's Nook e-reader, for example, uses a monochrome 6-inch e-paper screen by E-ink Corporation, with a smaller 3.5-inch color LCD screen lower down. The Delta device uses color e-paper and does not have an LCD screen." - http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9149418/Delta_s_13.1_inch_color_e_readers_due_out_mid_year?taxonomyId=1 http://www.deltaww.com/

Bridgestone QR-LPD Electronic Paper | What is "Electronic Paper" ? In the field of displays, "Liquid Crystal," "Plasma," and "Organic EL" are well-known types of display. These were developed as displays for TVs and personal computers to substitute the CRT (Braun Tube). Therefore, it may usually be said that they are displays for showing dynamic images (motion pictures) and photographs. The Electronic Paper that Bridgestone Corp. has developed is also a display, but unlike the monitors for TVs and personal computers, it was mainly developed as a medium for displaying static images (still pictures) for reading. Apart from when rewriting the displays, Electronic Paper requires no electrical power to maintain the image. This makes it a display that is anticipated to become a medium that can be used in place of paper. This leads to energy-savings and it will be useful in reducing the strain on the environment. - http://www2.bridgestone-dp.jp/global/adv-materials/QR-LPD/whatis.html http://www2.bridgestone-dp.jp/global/adv-materials/QR-LPD/whatis.html
