Remember Modbook – the tablet converted from a Macbook? It is now back with the new ModBook Pro. Using a unique enclosure conversion kit, the MacBook Pro is transformed into a sleek touch tablet computer. The new ModBook Pro is based on Apple’s new 13.3-inch MacBook Pro system and is equipped with Wacom digitizer with 512 levels of pen pressure sensitivity to deliver a highly sensitive pen interface. It comes with battery-less digitizer pen with two programmable side buttons and a digital eraser. There is a built-in pen garage with a magnetic catch to securely hold the pen.
The ModBook Pro, same as the 13.3 MacBook Pro, sports an Intel Core i5 2.5GHz or Core i7 2.7GHz processor, up to 16GB of RAM, integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, a 2.5-inch 1TB hard drive or 960B SSD, and a 8x SuperDrive DVD writer. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi, and has one FireWire 800, USB 3.0 port, one Thunderbolt port, and a SDXC card slot.
Accrording to the company, the transformation is achieved using the ExoConnect system, which is ‘the primary high-speed connection linking the Modbook Pro components to one of the MacBook Pro’s two standard USB 3.0 ports’ for seamless integration. The ModBook Pro will be released in Fall.
